1/12/20 16/100 1957 Ford Thunderbird
Now to the fine classic American cars with the return of the 1957 Ford Thunderbird to the lineup, first introduced in 1988 and made various appearances in other lines over the years before returning to the regular line in 2000 and still continues to this day. Even then some changes were in order that included a revert to plastic from a metal base, yet the car still remains the same right down to the smaller basic wheels last used in the 1980’s. The yellow color is simple and looks great on this car that adds detailed headlights and taillights. The front has tall front fenders with round headlights and meets a large eggcrate grille, while the hood has the V-shaped hood scoop and wrap around windshield. The sides add interior vent doors, front fender trim, and sharp rear fender lines that lead to the round taillights, the bumper exhaust tips, and the cool continental spare tire kit on the rear bumper. The interior is rather basic, yet has all of the right details and designs in the seat and dashboard, while the base shows off the drivetrain with x-brace framing for extra rigidity. The car handles quite well despite the added length and just looks good from any corner; I’m glad Matchbox still produces this casting.
