1/5/20 9/100 1998 Jeep Wrangler

If you’re getting tired of the generics in this segment series, then this Jeep Wrangler should get your attention.  Introduced in 1999 the Wrangler was a long-overdue fresh Wrangler after years of using the CJ5 casting non-stop, the new Jeep was larger, lower, and more detailed than before with more creature comforts that only the CJ5 can imagine.  The front has round headlights, taller seven-slot grille, smaller bumpers, side doors, rear taillights, large spare tire, and a tow hitch for towing trailers.  The windshield is larger and is connected to a rollcage for added protection, while the wheels are 8-spoke treaded tires that give some needed grip to the Jeep although the lower ground clearance and lower base (for the working suspension) limit ground clearance.  The base shows off some excellent drivetrain details, while the interior has four seats, two-spoke steering wheel, and a detailed dashboard layout, and on the track the lower Jeep resists to body roll though it still feels rough like a truck.  The Wrangler continues to serve well today, though most of its life was limited to its relative camper model released in 2001, featuring camping gear on the roof of the Jeep and JEEP stamped on the spare tire cover.  The working suspension has been removed since then and even a few versions remove the rollcage completely, yet the charm of this casting is still there.
