2/14/20 49/100 Bedford Horse Box Truck

The last two in this series calls for classic Lesney castings from the 1970’s based on real trucks and featuring real animals, uh actually they’re not real-life but animals nonetheless.  The box truck is based on the England-based Bedford trucking company that produced this cab-over design in gray with the horse express on the doors and a metal base.  The rest of the truck has a brown box with vent slots for ventilation and a side door that folds down into a ramp to allow the horses to be loaded and unloaded from the truck. Problem is, those two black horses inside cannot fit through the door so in order to get them out the whole box must be removed by pulling up at the front and sliding back to get the horses out.  Despite this pain it’s a very nice function out of this casting, a casting that shares its horses with the older horse trailer and has been copied before by Motormax.  Like most of the castings here after a brief return one more use in the Across America series in 2002 and that was it for the Horse Box truck.
