2/16/20 51/100 M4 Sherman Tank

The start of the Military segment series, the best by far done recently by Matchbox, is with the most famous tank of World War II, the M4 Sherman Tank.  Named after American Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman, it was the most common, reliable, and swift tank that helped the allies defeat the enemy and win World War II.  Matchbox created a replica of this tank for 1999 and it looks quite nimble with a short track, but taller stance in olive green with tan mud graphics.  The tank tracks on the side are part of the base and do not move, but instead the small wheels on the base create movement (a common trait with other Matchbox tanks) while the body has the detailed hatches, tools, and equipment used for war.  That also includes the 360 degree rotation of the cannon that also can move the cannon up and down slightly.  Other than the cool details and the working gun, most of these tanks here look more at home in a war display than have any other function.
