2/8/20 43/100 Dodge Viper RT/10

Now for that icon on the doors of the flatbed truck, the Dodge Viper RT/10, and while the GTS coupe relative gains a new color this version almost relates back to the first version released in 1994 despite 5-spoke over those Tyco-era gold wheels and silver headlights instead of black with Viper logo on the hood.  Legend has it the first Viper planned for the Matchbox line in 1989 didn’t go so well even after the tooling has been created based on the show car so it was retooled slightly as a generic and called Sunburner.  In 1994 Matchbox finally got the approval and the RT/10 was introduced and compared to the Hot Wheels version this Matchbox version got the look right with the proper stance, detailed front grille, round rear with taillights, side exhaust, detailed base with the 8.0L V-10 motor and 6-speed manual, and even the interior has the detailed seats, speakers between the seats, center console with shifter, and dashboard with gauges and vents.  On the track with was fun-to-drive with a working suspension and excellent cornering abilities, and all of this was so good that when the GTS coupe was made for 1997 a lot of the detailing from the RT/10 carried over.  Though for 2000 it would be nice to see a different color and a few more lighting details, but overall it’s a fantastic casting that returned for 2018 with some slight updates yet still looks good in a sinister dark red metallic and blacked-out 5-spoke wheels.
