3/11/20 75/100 Golf Cart
Now for something truly unexpecting: a golf cart, a typical electric-powered cart for the golf course! This was the primary year for this casting and would only get one more outing as the South Carolina state car for the Across America series in 2002 and that’s it! The simple car was a contrast to the wild hot rod called T’eed Off that Hot Wheels released in 1999 and it looks typical in gray with separate white plastic roof and black pillars. The front has detailed headlights and bumper protector in the body, the 8-dot wheels look right at home on this casting, and the rear has separate black golf bags with detailed clubs on top. Inside the bench seat is constructed of two white pieces and the steering wheel is even a separate piece. That is a lot of separate pieces for this casting and this would not go well with Matchbox today in 2020! Other than that it’s not much fun being a single electric motor with no gears and limited travel, mostly on golf courses. Still it’s always interesting to see what Matchbox can come up with unexpectedly, and this golf cart was one of them.
