3/15/20 79/100 Chevrolet Kodiak Highway Maintenance Truck
One of the longest serving snowplows is this Highway Maintenance Truck that was first introduced in the 1980’s and has been through several variations that include without the bowtie on the grille, no front snowplow, and the fixed snowplow. This is the earlier version that has a front snow plow that moves to the left or right, front bar with high-mounted driving lights, and the Kodiak front hood with the bowtie on the grille. The cab is painted bright green and features the DOT decals on the doors, hood latches, roof light with horns and clearance lights; while the salt bed is in gray and has the spreader detailed at the back. These trucks in real life have multiple personalities: when not in use during the summer these trucks, sans plow, can be used for regular dump truck duties. This is a nicely done casting that is still used today, though the plow is fixed and there is no more evidence that it is based on the Chevy Kodiak chassis cab, but get an earlier version like this and you’ll see the evidence and the fun-filled factor of this classic plow truck.
