3/7/20 71/100 1985 Chevy K/5 Blazer 4x4

The origins of this Blazer casting dates back to the 1980’s when Universal took over Matchbox from Lesney and also bought out the Kenner Fast 111’s castings, which are highly modified castings of existing vehicles, and in turn three castings were donated to the Matchbox line: a Ford Mustang, a Jeep 4x4, and this Chevy Blazer.  The truck is still in use since then with some modifications such as the whip antenna at the rear being removed:  it was a nice idea, but the antennas can come off and get lost, plus the packaging bends the antenna forward against the roof instead of straight up.  Based on the late 1980’s K-5 Chevrolet Blazer it has roof mounted lights, a lifted stance with large tires, side exhaust, and strangely a trailer hitch that is useless in such a tall vehicle.  The front has the appropriate squared-up look with quad headlights and separate rear roof similar to the real K-5 blazer, but the rear tailgate and taillights are rather vague to see from the rather thick bumper.  The interior has front and rear seats and a lower dash console that looks like it came out of a Chevy Van.  Clean, police, rally, off-road it has seen all sorts of graphics and this one offers Action Tours in either light or dark brown depending on variation.  While this is a nice, old casting I would like to see Matchbox retool it into a properly-detailed K-5 Blazer.
