4/17/20 13/75 1994 Ford Transit van

One of the most iconic working horse vehicles in Europe would have to be the Transit van, and by 1986 a completely new Transit arrived with the new aero look from the Ford passenger car models and improved engines.  It would be the look that would start up the Mercedes Sprinter age later on.  Matchbox released the first casting in 1988 with front and rear bumpers part of the plastic base and headlights that are a part of the window trim; in 1995 Matchbox updated the Transit with the mid-cycle refresh that now has a longer hood with headlights and an oval grille that is now part of the metal body, but elsewhere the van remains unchanged.  The yellow paint really makes the van stand out and joins the yellow base and the Union Jack flag for a vibrant look, and while the Transit on the front bumper is gone the Transit badge still remains on the rear gage.  The interior has a simple look with a front dashboard, three front seats, and a large cargo area.  The suspension still works and gives this hand great handling despite the body roll from the tall, boxy exterior.  This redo of the Transit got more use and was eventually back in the U.S. line in 2002, followed by a new model of the Transit in 2006 and currently the Transit continues on the latest platform with a plastic body and as a T.V. news truck.
